WICB is one of Ithaca College's radio stations, operated by students.
During my senior year, I served as their Hip-Hop, Rap and R&B Music Director! This role oversees and coordinates DJ scheduling for WICB's "Weekend Rhythms," the only substation that highlights the aforementioned genres. In addition, I was in charge of curating and managing the Hip-Hop, Rap and R&B library, by reviewing submissions and adding 300+ tracks (digital uploads and CDs) to spotlight emerging and established talent.
Additionally, I was an on-air DJ for WICB my entire college career, starting with "Ladies First", a show under Weekend Rhythms that highlights female artists within Hip-Hop, Rap and R&B. Ladies First only runs on Sundays, from 10 pm to 12 am, and I DJ'd for it my freshman year. The years after, I decided to make the switch and DJ for Weekend Rhythms, diversifying my skills in playlisting. My Junior year, I was also WICB’s Social Media Strategist, managing content on their Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook.
This was a lovely experience! My co-hosts and I (Stephanie, Aksah, Griffin, and Demanyé—all over the span of different years) had lots of fun :)
Below are a few photos & playlists related to my time at WICB.
