In the art sense, dance was one of my first loves.
Growing up, I spent hours watching (and trying to learn) Matt Stefanina's choreography on YouTube, dying to be in those studios. When I got to college, I came across Pulse, a predominately women of color hip-hop dance team. This shifted the trajectory of my college experience.
Sophomore year, I served as one of Pulse's Social Media Managers, managing the Instagram by creating/uploading graphics and producing video content for our annual spring showcase. Junior and senior year, my role as Co-President included: overseeing practice schedules (3x/week), helping create (and assist team members with) original hip-hop choreography, coordinating performances, delegating the executive board, and most importantly, cultivating a collaborative team environment.
During showcase season, responsibilities intensify. As Co-President, you’re responsible for finalizing the showcase’s creative direction (theme, run time (1.5 hours), set order, visuals, etc) to ensure a cohesive showcase.
