Summer 2024, I was a Motion Design intern for Apple, located in Sunnyvale, California (Marcom!). This was a transformative experience. I was surrounded by some of the most talented, experienced, and determined people, who were also very supportive as I navigated my time here. To all of Marcom, I thank you! 💌
Below are two (initial then final) typography motion designs that I worked on for my first project, Apple Watch Series 10. This was a celebratory product launch because it marks 10 years of the Apple Watch. To honor this milestone, I thought it would be fitting to have the text submerge from the shadows in a Batman-esque manner. Why? Because this signifies the rise of something major, powerful, and different than the others (their thinnest design yet). The final design made its way to Scott, Marcom's Executive Creative Director which was an honor!
My second project was experimenting with motion design concepts for the iPhone 16e's A18 chip, which, similar to the Apple Watch, is a part of their brand marketing. The concept behind how the A18 chip would animate was still in its beginning phase, but the central idea was to go with a holographic look. This was a huge learning curve for me because most of the mockups were designed through Cinema 4D, a program I learned about through my internship (prior, I knew of the software Blender). My design ideas were animated using Adobe After Effects, and mainly focused on how light and motion comes into play, rather than staying silo'd to just a holographic look. This helped me broaden how to communicate my design ideas even if I didn't have the experience desired to bring to life a concept.
